PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
In 2021, the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe, New Mexico, will celebrate the grand re-opening of Here, Now and Always (HNA) following a three-year process of renewal and renovation. The first iteration of HNA opened in 1997 after 10 years in the making. It was celebrated nationally as a visionary new exhibition model that utilized the voices and participation of Native peoples in its creation. The museum is turning again to its tribal partners to revitalize HNA with new perspectives and ideas and state-of-the-art technologies and exhibition techniques. While the purpose remains unchanged—to share the continually evolving cultural histories and identities of Native peoples—the vision for the visitor experience is a new and exciting one.
Tipton Engineering worked closely with LDG Architects to alter the existing mechanical and electrical systems of the existing “Here, Now and Always” exhibit as well as an adjacent gallery space will become part of the expanded H&A Exhibit. TE also worked with an outside lighting designer, provided by the museum, to coordinate lighting, data and technology updates for the new exhibit installations.
